After Morning Skate ( part two ) & Game Night ( v. St. Louis Blues )

Jonathan's POV                   ridin’.solo/jason.derulo

“Ow! Damn it!” I mutter under my breath, as I burned the back of my hand with some boiling hot water, and out of reflex I throw my cup into the sink. Tea bag and all.

I sit myself down at the island in the middle of the kitchen, and with little interest in finishing it, I poke my fork through what’s left of my lunch, so I push my plate aside and pull my laptop closer to me. With the Google search engine open, I type in ‘theatres in chicago’ to see what’s currently playing. Only a couple movies seem to capture my interest, but really, do I want to put myself through that kind of hell?

But I haven’t been to a movie in so long. Come to think of it though, I haven’t really done anything much outside of hockey. And I guess that’s why Melissa left me 'for good' this time. Well that's how she put it. I guess there could’ve been a few more reasons about why she left, some easily coming to mind.

So many times though, I have tried, but I guess I just never hard enough. She’s really gone and I really can’t all that sad about it. The separation seemed to be inevitable since she has been threatening me with it for some time now. Besides our relationship never got to any point near her moving into the condo with me, in fact, she still is living in Winnipeg.
Now I'm really feeling the pain of the burn on my hand and I look down to see a decent sized red burn. I turn my hand over and I see a faint but yet still readable phone number.

Should I? Or Shouldn’t I?

It was automatic. I grabbed my Blackberry off the counter and punch in the number but I falter, pressing the ‘save contact’ button instead of ‘send’.

Patrick’s POV                  she.drives.me.crazy/fine.young.cannibals

My eyes shot open and she’s gone, but as my eyes begin to focus I that see Sharp is standing in front of me.

"What the fuck man!" I shout in horror of the fact that not only was all of what I thought just happened was all in my head, but I take a look down at my towel... fuck! ... there it was.

"Well... a wet dream for Kaner?"

"Shut up!"

"Or what?"

I couldn't respond with anything, so he just left the room, but I really 'Shut up' was the best I could come up with? Why the hell couldn't I come up with a good comeback?

After he left, I proceeded to get dressed and made my way out of the arena. I walked through the empty parking lot to my truck, got in, and headed back home. That whole time, and still now, I can't stop thinking about her. Despite all of what I thought happened between us was only a daydream and Sharp happened to walk in on it, it still didn't put that much of a damper on my day. Although I'll probably be the butt of the joke in the locker room tonight.

I get home, I make myself a simple lunch of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich then headed straight to my bed and to take my regular pregame nap.

When I get up, it's 3:30pm, and I head down the hall to my work out room and take a light jog on the treadmill for an hour. After my jog, I walk to the kitchen to the fridge, take out a bottle of water and finished it in almost one gulp, then take out the slice of lasagna I took out earlier from the freezer -that my Mom baked, sliced and froze the last time she was here- I  and put it into the oven. After twenty minutes to heat up, I eat and go. It's time for me to head back to the UC.

I walk in to the building, anticipating some jabs from some of the guys as I enter the locker room, but there was nothing. Sharp didn't even have anything to throw at me. So I continue getting ready then we all head out for a pregame warm up. Or so I thought.

As we went back to the locker room so the ice can be prepped again for the first period, I find a package on the shelf in my stall, that has a picture of an inflatable doll on it.

"Ha, ha, very funny!" I yell for over my shoulder at the other guys and I hear all their laughing and snickering in the background. And so it begins.

Tonight's game went quite well, we beat the Blues 7 to 5. I gathered up three points, scoring two goals and one assist and earning the first star of tonight's game too. As we left the ice, we go off about our normal routine after a great win. There are few of us that do a couple interviews then shower, get dressed and be on our way back home to family, or like me being a single guy, go out to the club to celebrate. But I didn't feel like going out with the guys, so I just turned down the offers and decided to just head home.

As I leave the UC

Should I? Or shouldn't I? I ponder for a moment but just as I'm about to press 'send', Bolland taps on my window. So I roll down it to see what he wants and put my phone in the cup holder.

"Hey! Are sure you don't want to come out tonight?"

"Yeah, I'm sure."

"By the sounds of it, it's going to be one hell of a night."

"Sounds like fun, but I gotta pass."

"Snooze you lose man. " he yells back at me as he is already off to his car. "More hot chicks for us then!"

I roll my window back up, shaking my head, I start up the engine and leave. As I reach an exit, I turn right then I see a familiar looking silhouette down at the bus stop. Could it be? So I pull over to the curb, pick up my phone again, find her number and press send. It took a couple rings, and it was her. She began rummaging through her purse, like she was looking for her phone and after a few more rings she picks up.
